The town of Ourique lies 13 km distant and has all the amenities associated with a busy town: cafes, restaurants, bars, banks, pharmacies, a well stocked library, cinema and public swimming pool. In addition there are several very well stocked supermarkets, shops of all types including beauty salon, clothing and jewellers, a large doctor’s surgery with a small cottage hospital together with the local council offices and a petrol station.

The railway station of Funcheira which is on the main Algarve – Lisbon – Porto line is only 5 minutes away by car and provides excellent travel opportunities to the Algarve, Faro airport and the beautiful city of Lisbon. By car the lovely sea-side town of Vila Nova de Milfontes is just 40 minutes away, Albufeira is 55 minutes and Faro Airport 1 hour 15 minutes.

Schools:

The primary schools in Garvao provides tuition for children from 3 to 5 years of age and a second school, also in Garvão, caters for children from 5 to 11 years of age. The nearby town of Ourique provides schooling for children from 11 to 18 years of age, and there is a free school bus from Garvao. Many of the children from the senior school in Ourique go on to University in Lisbon.
