Ourique is a small and unspoilt rural town in the Baixo Alentejo. Situated conveniently close (but not too close!) to the new A2 Autoestrada (motorway), and also the reconstructed IC1. This means that access from Lisbon or Faro airport is only two hours or one hour respectively.
The town itself has all the facilities for day to day living providing banks, post office, hospital, dentist, library, cinema, chemist, swimming pool, excellent schools, hardware stores, buildings merchants, supermarkets, taxi rank, Lisbon/Algarve express bus stop point, beautifully kept parks and gardens and of course an abundance of restaurants and bars, many with outside settings, an old fashioned town still full of old buildings and charm. There is even a local town council, and a local tax office all within the town. If you want the Algarve you can drive or go by bus or train. Albufeira is just 45 minutes away by car.
